ANGEL BLYTHE CAMPEY: Comedian, Writer, Actress, Tweeter, Breather, Laugher & Talker

Acts like a lady. Thinks like a man.

Angel is a Capetonian comedian, born in Durban and raised in Plett, Jozi, Somerset West and her grand-mother's house.
Given the name Angel at birth, she didn't have the career luxury of becoming a doctor or lawyer and her options were limited to being a stripper or stand-up comedian. After a few test runs in front of her own mirror she chose comedy as it made the neighbours boo less violently.

Her comedy explores life through the eyes of a girl always branded that little bit more special (read: window-licker) for having a unique name. As a new comedian she counts herself lucky to have performed on stages with some of SA's comedy heavyweights already. She appears regularly at Cape Town's well known comedy clubs, has opened for one man shows and performed at top festivals & theatres.
Angel was selected by Alan Comittie as the 'Breakthrough Comic' to perform at the Fugard Theatre in the 'Fugard Fest of Comedy' - December 2011 alongside Riaad Moosa, Stuart Taylor, Rob Van Vuuren, Martin Davis  & other top comedians & actors. She was invited as a guest to tour to The Pieter Dirk Uys' Evita Se Peron Theatre in Darling for 'Wise Cracks' - an all female comedy show with Marianne Thamm, Anne Hirsch, Shimmy Isaacs & Kellyn Coetzee
VENUES she performs at include: Zula bar, Ragazzi & Purple Turtle - Long Street. Jokers Comedy Club, Kurt Schoonraad's Jou Ma Se Comedy Club, Chilli Bar, Bubba J's (JHB) & the infamous Parker's Comedy club in Joburg.

FESTIVALS Angel has performed comedy at include: Rocking the Daisies 2011, Synergy Live 2011, Rock the River - New Years Eve, and Mardi Gras 2012.
With an Honours degree in Film& Media from UCT, a history in acting that starts at age 5 and a life well traveled from all over SA to UK, USA and Asia, Angel feels right at home on stage and is easily adaptable to different crowds.
She is enjoying continuing success performing stand-up around Cape Town and the rest of South Africa - but wont object, however, if you'd still like to slip R100 notes into her belt strap.

"If you aren't using your grown up powers to occasionally do things that would make your 6 year old self want to high five you - then what's the point?"
